Congratulations to Norman E. Day Elementary School

Congratulations to the Norman E. Day Elementary School in Westford, Massachusetts for becoming the 2012 Energy Spotlight School. As an Eagle Scout from Westford, Aziz Rangwala set an explicit goal for his school district:

Energy Spotlight School"Create an energy conservation and management model for the Westford school system. Using the Norman E. Day School as chosen by the Westford School Committee and Superintendent Everett Olsen, I will lead a team to conduct an energy audit at the proposed school. Our team will work with National Grid and other local energy experts to initiate a program to make changes to reduce energy consumption at the schools. Together we will analyze the data generated from the refurbished school to inform the Westford School Committee of these changes in time for their next fiscal year."

Energy Spotlight School StudentsThrough this movement, Aziz is leading an energy team of volunteer professionals and community volunteers in conducting a school wide audit while implementing an education program on energy conservation at Norman E. Day School, located in Westford, Massachusetts.  Although the school is currently using conventional methods of conserving energy such as shutting off lights, Aziz aspires to conserve a greater amount of energy.  This aspiration will be obtained through encouraging individuals to use energy-conserving habits, like using energy-efficient equipment to reduce school costs.
