Clipper Green needs drought resistant plants for our two hardened concrete garden beds. We have a wholesale buy with Deakins Pond Nursery and you can see in the video and photos our phase one. We need 25 each of
- 25 pulmonaria (lungwort, Bethlehem Sage) darkest blue with longest
- 25 rudbeckia (Black - Eyed Susan) our state flower
that can withstand the high southern heat right next to the sidewalks. Our price point per 50 is $5.00 for a budget of 250.00. We are working with University of Maryland Esther Mitchell and our Prince George County Public Works who will assist us with the needed leaf grow. PEPCO will supply the mulch for all of our areas we have worked and will work.
Last year our group earned a greenhouse and hydroponic lettuce system that we are implementing. We as students hope to use tires for an outdoor classroom. We will paint the tires and use the mulch from PEPCO for the classroom. Esther has recommended we till the hard grass, add leaf grow and plant both grass seed and clover to help the south side of the building grow during the extreme heat of July through September. As you can see from our photos, the grass is very burnt and requires a good plan that will sustain a beautiful GREEN campus.
