In the last six months, we’ve built a greenhouse in our backyard as an exhibit which will explore sustainable food sources, plant science, and urban gardening! We built the greenhouse early last winter and have also been sprouting hundreds of veggie seeds in the last six weeks to eventually be transported into the greenhouse and surrounding raised beds (which are being built right now).
We’ve enlisted the help of volunteers (see attached photos) and have a Greenhouse Education Internship position in place for the summer. We’re using the greenhouse and all of its plants daily as a living example to all of our visitors (aged 0-100!) of an urban garden sustainably producing delicious food! We hope you’ll consider us for the Green-in-Action award – we’ve absolutely loved the growing process, and look forward to the coming summer months!
