Washington and Brentwood Boys & Girls Club and Teen Center
Raleigh, NC
boys_and_girls2On Saturday April 16th, Raleigh, NC was hit by a tornado that greatly damaged two of our Boys & Girls Clubs. The following week was Spring Break and many teens from the Washington Boys & Girls Club, Brentwood Boys & Girls Club and Teen Center came out to help with the clean-up efforts.  Although it was their time to relax from school and homework, they decided to make it a time to work in the community. As many of the teens discuss in the video, they felt it was important to help their fellow Boys & Girls Club because they are all family.

Initially all the Clubs had green projects planned for Spring Break but the tornado aftermath called for a different environmental clean-up. 16 teens spent the afternoon working at the Raleigh Girls Club and Raleigh Boys Club to haul brush, rake debris, carry stumps. Some teens were also able to help inside to move books and videos that were at risk of further damage due to the loss of a roof.  Overall, our teens were able to make a positive impact during a tragic time in our community. They worked alongside teens they barely knew in a collective effort--it was a great way to spend Spring Break--making a difference in the community.
