Garden Spotlight

kids5As our Green Thumb Challenge gardening community grows and grows, GEF wants to take the time to tip our straw hats and share the the outstanding efforts of school and youth gardeners across the nation!

If you are interested in being featured in a Green Thumb Challenge spotlight, please send a brief description of your garden project to

Be sure to include the following details with your entry:

  • Name and location of your school or youth group
  • Start date of your garden
  • The kinds of plants that you grow
  • School/community involvement: who has managed and helped to take care of your garden?
  • Photos!
  • Quotes from the people involved in your garden (kids, teachers, principals, families, etc.)
  • How has your class or community benefited from your garden project? What have been some of the challenges?
  • How do you plan to take care of your garden over the summer, or how have you approached this task in the past?
