Seed Pot Critters

Lesson Description:
SeedPotCritters Elementary students will gather natural materials found outside on the ground in the fall. They will use the materials that they have collected to create critters, creatures, or animals.

Eco-fact: In the fall in environments where oak trees grow, acorns are an important diet of many animals such as birds, small mammals, and large mammals.

Procedure:
  • Students will gather natural materials found outside on the ground in the fall.
  • Arrange your materials to build critters, creatures, or animals.get creative.
  • Glue all the parts of critters, creatures, or animals together.
  • Let critter creations dry.

Adaptations:
  • Teacher can require students to make specific animals such as squirrels in early fall or turkeys for thanksgiving.

Extensions:
  • Students can write stories about their critters.
  • Students can create a “critter museum” displaying their creations.
